Video: STRIKER’S Adam Brown takes a DRUM RIDE!

STRIKER Releases Self-Titled Album and Embarks on 2017 World Tour

At my invitation last June, Adam Brown from metal band STRIKER came to the FansMagnetic.TV studio to talk to us about the band’s North American tour.

Once in a while I come across a band that makes me proud of Canadian music. STRIKER has been around since 2007, but didn’t really have their first real album until 2010 with “Eyes In The Night”; then in 2012 “Armed To The Teeth”; and in 2014 “City of Gold”. Last year when we conducted this interview with Adam Brown, they were promoting their new album “Stand In The Fire”. This year they have a new self-titled album.

“Stand In The Fire” was promoted with a North American tour. I was in Toronto when they were playing Toronto, and I was packing to move to Winnipeg. I didn’t have time to see their show and knew that they’d be playing in Winnipeg. I was anxious to get there to see them and to interview the band. I arranged the interview, but I wasn’t able to make it back to the city on time so Aaron took over and gave Adam a drum ride. I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to meet the band. I’m a big fan.

The band toured in the Spring of 2016. In the Fall, the album “Stand In The Fire” won the 2016 Western Canadian Music Award for ‘Metal/Hard Rock Artist of The Year’. No sooner are we in 2017, and STRIKER has come out with their self-titled album and are touring once again. This time their tour is going to take them, starting in February, to the U.S. (Georgia, Missouri, Illinois, Minneapolis); they will be stopping in Winnipeg on February 11th and playing at the Windsor Hotel; then heading to Europe (Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, UK, Netherlands, Sweden); returning to their home in Edmonton in April. It’s not lost on me that little ‘ol Winnipeg is a rare Canadian stop on this tour. They must love this place. I’m happy I will finally get to meet them.

STRIKER plays The Windsor Hotel, February 11

The members of STRIKER are Dan Cleary (vocals), Tim Brown (lead/rhythm guitars), William Wallace (bass), and Adam Brown (drums). You can hear the influence in STRIKER’s music from the early eighties heavy metal/ thrash metal/glam metal scene, with guitar and drum dominated sound, strong rhythms and classical rock styles. STRIKER has volume and is theatrical. Their live shows are full of energy and that’s what they’re known for. STRIKER takes us back to the early days of pure rock heavy metal music. In fact, I wonder if they know that there is already an album from 1978 called Striker by Striker (Artista)?

Enjoy STRIKER – Born to Lose, from their self-titled album.
